Kendrick Lamar’s latest single, “Not Like Us,” has made history on Spotify, surpassing Drake’s chart-topping hit “God’s Plan” by amassing over 700 million streams.

The achievement cements Lamar’s status as a dominant force in the rap industry and highlights the song’s widespread popularity among listeners around the world.

Released just about three months ago, “Not Like Us” rapidly climbed the streaming charts, becoming the fastest rap song to reach 200 million streams on Spotify in July.

Now, just two months on, it has surpassed 700 million streams, inching closer to the one billion mark. According to a report from HotNewHipHop, the track’s success follows years of rivalry between Lamar and Drake, which dates back to 2013.

This milestone has made 2024 a standout year for Lamar on Spotify, and with more than six billion streams across his entire catalog, the 37-year-old rapper has firmly positioned himself at the top of the rap music ranks in the world.

“Not Like Us” is now the most-streamed diss track in Spotify history, further elevating Lamar’s already illustrious career.

Also, the song’s massive success has left Lamar’s fans celebrating his latest accomplishment, particularly as it surpasses Drake’s “God’s Plan,” a hit that dominated the charts when it was released in 2018.

The long-lasting and fierce competition between the two artists has also been reignited as both rappers continue to make waves in the industry.

Drake, who is far from done, recently released a new batch of tracks, which has led some fans to speculate that the Canadian rapper is attempting to rekindle various feuds, including his longstanding rivalry with Lamar.

Reactions to Drake’s new music have been mixed, with some fans labeling the move as a desperate attempt to regain attention, while others are simply excited to have new quality music from him, regardless of the circumstances.

This ongoing debate surrounding these releases reflects the current nature of today’s rap culture, where fans and critics alike are quick to weigh in on both the music and the artists’ personal dramas.
