Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour have been named co-chairs of the 2025 Met Gala, with NBA superstar LeBron James serving as honorary chair.
A Vogue report reveals that this star-studded lineup is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the prestigious event, which will showcase the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
The exhibition, which is set to debut in May 2025, draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity”.

Miller will aid in guiding the exhibit’s exploration of Black men’s fashion across centuries, as Vogue reports, : “the exhibit will feature garments, paintings, photographs, and more, all exploring the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th-century through present day.”
For Formula star Lewis Hamilton, who also happens to be a longtime Met Gala attendee, this is an honorary mention, after his lasting impact in F1 and also in the world of fashion.
Hamilton has edged his name in history by breaking many records in Formula 1, and is now widely regarded as the greatest of all time.
Colman Domingo, who made his Met Gala debut in 2023, on the other hand has also been gaining attention in fashion circles, and has now gone on to further cement his growing influence with this appointment.
Pharrell Williams’ role as creative director of Louis Vuitton Men’s wear makes him a natural and perfect fit for the co-chair position, as his boundary-pushing style has long resonated in both the world of music and fashion.
This is now Williams’ sixth Met Gala appearance and also his second time as co-chair.
American rapper A$AP Rocky, who is a New York native and also a longtime fashion innovator, has been a notable figure in the fashion world for years, making strides while clinging on to his own preferences.
His experimental style and consistent collaboration with many top designers make him an ideal choice for co-chair, and he has also had a truly remarkable year in music, racking up some impressive numbers on streaming platforms.
NBA star LeBron James will however be making his Met Gala debut, as he has been a dominant force in basketball while equally being increasingly influential in high fashion.
This announcement also brings to mind good memories of André Leon Talley, the late fashion icon, whose work of championing marginalized voices left a lasting legacy.

The 2025 Met Gala is scheduled to return to New York City on May 5, 2025, with the exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” running from May 6 to October 26, 2025. The event’s dress code has however not been announced yet but will be made known in early 2025, and many will be keeping an eye on the news surrounding the upcoming event that will see many industry icons gather.
