As 2017 rolls along, Africa continues to be in need of rapid economic growth and robust developmental progress in all sectors. And as U.S. president, Donald Trump is sure to shake up most of the status quo in international relations due to his unwillingness to provide U.S. aid to countries and move to tighten U.S. entry requirements for African immigrants.
In the years ahead, the nations on the continent must prepare for a structure of self-reliance and understand that the days of depending almost exclusively on foreign aid and financial handouts is perhaps over for good. To achieve the kind of rapid progress that is needed to usher Africa in to a bright future, many nations require an urgent change in leadership.
