Broward County authorities arrested 15-year-old Demetre Fleurimond in connection with the discovery of a body along a Dania Beach canal. Deputies found 23-year-old Kevin Dominique dead from several gunshot wounds.
According to authorities, the victim’s teenage brother was the suspect in the murder. Last Thursday, the teenager made an appearance in a Broward County courtroom.
“I do find probable cause for murder. The late victim was his brother,” said the presiding judge, according to 7News.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that the teenager admitted to killing his brother, Dominique, on Sunday, August 17.
“Late on Tuesday night, he did admit to committing this crime,” said BSO spokesperson Carey Codd.

In an earlier interview with Local 10 News, their mother, Marie Jeanty, said she lost both of her sons and was in shock, unable to describe her feelings.
According to Jeanty, she spoke with Fleurimond last Tuesday morning to ensure he arrived at the bus stop, but he made no mention of Dominique, who was reported missing after being last seen alive on Sunday, according to an arrest report.
“I remember at 6:29 I called him to get out of the house,” she said. “Twice I called him, he never said anything. Nothing. And he knew he killed Kevin and dumped Kevin by the lake. Drove Kevin’s car and put it by the city library parking lot.
“Fifteen times, he shot Kevin to make sure he didn’t survive.”
In terms of motive, Jeanty stated that she questioned her son if Dominique had ever sexually abused him and that “he said no.”
She believes Fleurimond’s anger was a result of being asked to do chores.
“Sunday morning, when I came back I saw the kitchen tiles were clean,” Jeanty said. “I said, ‘I know you did it, but Kevin must’ve asked you to do it.’ He said, ‘Yes I did it. Kevin told me to do it.’ I believe that made him mad.”
According to Local 10 News, the BSO learned about the incident after they received a call about the body at Ocean Waterway Boulevard and Old Griffin Road at approximately 8 a.m. on August 19.
Deputies found that Dominique was “intentionally shot and killed” by 15-year-old Fleurimond at their residence on Southwest Sixth Avenue, approximately one mile from the location.
According to the deputies, Fleurimond shot Dominique inside the house where the siblings resided with their mother, shortly after Dominique had returned from work.
Detectives believe the suspect drove his brother’s body to the canal, which is less than a mile from his home, and dumped it.

The teenager was charged with first-degree murder and sent to the Juvenile Assessment Center by deputies. The motivation for the shooting remains unknown.
“Through the investigation, through this process of gathering evidence and interviewing people with information, detectives will be trying to answer that particular question,” said Codd.
A neighbor of the family spoke with 7News. “[Kevin] loved his brother, he looked out for his brother,” said the neighbor, who asked not to be identified or show her face on camera.
The neighbor added, “[Kevin] was trying to become something different; he was working towards that, and they took him.”
A family friend who wished to stay nameless expressed her heartbreak at hearing the news.
“I know these kids, and I do know that Demetre was a real sweet kid,” she remarked. “I’m lost for words, I really am. I am hurt. I am confused because this is like, what happens that you shoot your brother over 15 times?”
Fleurimond has been placed in juvenile detention for 21 days. His next court appearance is set for September 9.
