Civil strife in the Central African Republic
In the CAR, violence between Christian and Islamic groups has been on and off since 2012 after President Francois Bozize’s ouster.
Interventions by the UN has not been as fruitful and the withdrawal of its forces in 2017 after they were attacked by militias led to the resurgence of war.
By January 2018, the Red Cross said that the situation is getting worse with a large percentage of citizens needing humanitarian aid.
