Gold
When it comes to gold mining in Africa, South Africa tops the list of top producers followed by Ghana, Mali, Tanzania, Guinea, and Zimbabwe, respectively. Currently, South Africa is estimated to produce 35 percent of global gold resources and exports 99 percent of gold output. Although some gold mines in South Africa have expired, the country still is a global leader in gold production. Economic and political crises in Zimbabwe have seen a drop in production of this precious mineral over the last couple of years.
