Uhuru Kenyatta
The son of the first president of Kenya was nurtured to become the fourth president of the republic at the hands of third president Daniel Arap Moi. Reports indicate that Kenyatta was pushed to the presidential limelight in 2002 when president Moi influenced his nomination as the leading political party’s presidential candidate.
Before this, he had been selected to chair a government parastatal and then nominated to parliament, paving way for him to be selected as the minister for local government.
Although he lost in the 2002 elections to Mwai Kibaki, Kenyatta ran for office and won in 2013 and 2017.
