Oklo Mines

Discovered by French physicist Francis Perrin in 1972, the Oklo Mines are the only uranium deposit in the world, where self-sustaining nuclear chain reactions have occurred. The entire site is made up of 16 sites of self-sustaining nuclear fission reactions that reportedly took place approximately 1.7 billion years ago, when a natural nuclear reaction reportedly occurred and left uranium deposits that are still mined today.
