Fort James…Mark Summerfield

Fort James

Fort James is the structure that was formulated by the British in the 18^th century to guard the harbour of St. John’s harbour.

The fort is named after King James II of England.

Fort James was built to dissuade the French from overtaking the island and subsequently taking control over the British.
