Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. recently weighed in on the WNBA and its competitiveness, claiming that he would dominate the league’s players even as an eighth grader.

Per Complex, Porter, 27, touched on the topic in response to fellow NBA star Lonzo Ball claiming that he would be “going crazy” while competing against WNBA players as a ninth grader. Ball, 28, made those claims on the Ball in the Family podcast, and Porter took it down a notch, saying he would edge over WNBA players even as an eighth grader because of “real-life experience.”

“I’ma go, probably, 8th grade because I have real experience doing this ’cause I played my sisters,” Porter said. “They went to University of Missouri, and I was still a young dude, and they had me playing on the scout team, and they had a few WNBA players on their team, like, Sophie Cunningham, and a couple others. I think I was in the 7th or 8th grade going dumb. So, I have real-life experience.”

He added: “I wish this would stop being a conversation ‘cause it should be common sense, but it’s just not.”

Porter also disclosed that he “did get in trouble talking about this,” likely referring to what he said in an August stream with PlaqueBoyMax, Complex reported. During their conversation, Max claimed that Team USA women‘s team would lose to the McDonald’s All-American boys basketball team by “about 10” points. But Porter begged to differ.

“Man, if the WNBA played the McDonald’s All-American boys high school players, I’m not even going to hold you bro,” Porter said. “Me, Trae Young, Deandre Ayton, Gary Trent Jr., P.J. Washington, if we played the WNBA All-Stars, no disrespect bro. I’m not even going to say.”

Despite his claim, Porter was seemingly aware that the New York Liberty was selling more tickets than the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center.

“Honestly, in Brooklyn, I think more people pull up to their games than our games, from what I heard,” he said. “They won a championship a year or two ago. So, they said it’s poppin’ over there.”
