Dikembe Mutombo
Basketball legend and NBA Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo is one of the biggest sporting exports from DRC. Also born in Kinshasa, Mutumbo played in the NBA from 1991 until 2009, recording 11,729 points, 12,359 rebounds, and 3,289 blocks during 18 seasons spent mostly with Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets.
Throughout his career and after retirement, Mutombo has been an ambassador of the game on the continent. He was present during the launch of the Basketball Africa League in 2019. He is also widely known for his humanitarian endeavors.
