Dr. Alfa Saadu
A Nigerian-born British doctor, Dr. Alfa Saadu came out retirement to join the UK’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Dr. Saadu stepped down from the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in 2016 after a glowing career, returning to help with efforts to halt the continuous spread of the coronavirus but succumbed to the disease.
He died earlier this month at the age of 68 after fighting the virus for two weeks, according to his son, Dani. Dr. Saadu worked for the NHS for nearly 40 years saving lives both in the UK and Africa.
He was working part-time at the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, until his passing.
“He was a massive family man and we did everything together. Family came first. He left two sons and a wife, who is a retired doctor herself in occupational health,” Dani said of his father.
