Top 5 African countries with the highest percentage of women entrepreneurs

Women own 24.5 per cent of businesses in Botswana, with the country scoring well in percentages of female borrowing or saving for business against male as well as in support for SMEs.

Mavis Nduchwa, the force behind the successful agribusiness, Chabana Farms, recently mentioned that men have always dominated commercial agriculture.

“Most societies are of the opinion that agriculture is reserved solely for men. That prohibits many women from taking that brave step and venturing into agribusiness.” But this seems to be changing as the cultural perceptions of women entrepreneurs in the country are now largely positive, the Index says.
