The name says it all. A soup made from spicy hot, chili pepper. In addition to all that fiery spice, pepper soup is made using either fish, goat, or chicken as a base. What rarely changes, however, is the amount of pepper, scented leaves, and other spices that go into its preparation. Yam and plantains are sometimes added to the soup to serve as a thick broth.
In addition to its status as a national favorite delicacy, many Nigerians swear by the healing powers of pepper soup to get rid of a bout of fever.
