National Museum of Slavery

Located in Morro da Cruz, Luanda, the National Museum of Slavery was established in 1977 by the National Institute of Cultural Patrimony with the aim of depicting the history of slavery in Angola. It is adjacent to the Capela da Casa Grande, where slaves were baptized before being shipped to America and other western destinations. The museum features hundreds of artifacts that were used in the slave trade.
