Authorities in Illinois said a 22-year-old man decapitated his pregnant on-again, off-again girlfriend in her home and disposed of her head in a dumpster. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the victim, identified as Liese Dodd, was almost eight months pregnant at the time of her killing.

The accused man, Deundrea S. Holloway, has since been arrested and charged in connection with the June 9 killings of Dodd and her unborn child. His bond was set at $2 million. Court documents stated that police found the 22-year-old victim’s head in a dumpster around her home.

“What was observed, what was learned, what was found, is absolutely terrible,” Alton police Chief Marcos Pulido said. “She was decapitated by a freaking savage monster.”

Per court records, Holloway did not have any previous assault or violence convictions, but he was once implicated in a robbery incident nearly three years ago.

Dodd’s mother found her body when she went to her home to check up on her. That was after she got concerned because she hadn’t been in contact with her daughter. Dodd was expected to give birth in late July.

“We were planning her baby shower for the end of this month. I had just sent out invitations the prior Saturday for the baby shower. We were just excited and gathering the items you need to have a baby,” the victim’s mother, Heidi Noel, told KMOV. “She wasn’t set on a name yet. [She] said ‘my little bean.’ So, we essentially were calling the baby, ‘baby bean’.”

Noel also said that the father of Dodd’s baby wasn’t Holloway, and they had been in a volatile two-year on-again, off-again relationship. “Because of the nature of the relationship, I made contact with her every day to check-in, so there was quite a time span that she hadn’t responded to me,” Noel said. “So, that’s what prompted me to go check on her.”

Holloway was initially arrested for a separate incident two hours after Dodd’s body was found. At the time, authorities were unaware he had allegedly killed Dodd. On Monday, Holloway was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child in Dodd’s killing, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

“I’m glad that he’s off the streets, and that is my big hope is that he’s no longer able to do this to anyone else,” Noel told KMOV.
