In 2021, Beyoncé and Jay-Z became owners of the world’s most expensive car – a custom-built luxury car that they reportedly bought for an estimated $28 million. Now, the star couple has broken another record.
According to TMZ, they have acquired the most expensive home ever in the history of California for $200 million. The property, which was initially enlisted for sale at the price of $295 million, is the couple’s second massive real estate purchase in the Los Angeles area. They purchased their first home in 2017 for $88 million.
The Malibu home reportedly sits on an 8-acre bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the Paradise Cove area and was designed by Tadao Ando, a Japanese master architect. However, it was built and owned by one of the biggest art collectors in the world, William Bell.
TMZ reports that it took Bell some 15 years to complete the structure, which features his private art collection and other designs, including a water feature and a pool.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé are among the wealthiest husband-and-wife self-made duos in the entertainment industry, with a combined net worth of almost $2 billion, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Jay-Z’s portion of their wealth is estimated at $1.4 billion.
The rapper, who became the first hip-hop billionaire in 2019, makes money from different empires. His assets range from the entertainment company, Roc Nation, to a fine art collection including works by Jean-Michel Basquiat.
According to Forbes, Jay-Z’s music catalog, which has about 300 songs, is worth $20 million. Additionally, his fine art collection is valued at $70 million, and features works by Damian Hirst, David Hammons, and Richard Prince; which he sees as an investment.
The couple jointly own homes that are valued at $50 million, while the rapper’s Roc Nation venture is valued at $140 million.
Jay-Z also has a stake in French audio tech firm, Devialet, which recently launched wireless earbuds called Gemini to rival Apple and Samsung’s dominance in the wireless earphones market.
His most recent big-money moves also include venturing into America’s $130 billion cannabis industry with his own brand.
The celebrity couple makes their fortune through music and other business enterprises, as well as endorsement deals.
