Grammy-nominated rapper and resident of Memphis GloRilla surprised students at Westside Middle School in Frayser. The celebrity musician made a $20,000 donation to the school’s fine arts program.

According to WREG, GloRilla shared some encouraging words: “To chase your dreams, whatever you want to do is possible. I’m living proof because I came from this exact neighborhood, this exact school. And whatever you want to do, you can do it. Manifest and actually work to achieve it.”

The principal of Westside Middle School, Dr. Rodney Peterson, responded, “GloRilla is why I got into this work years ago. I wanted to be a conduit and bridge builder for young people to dream and know that those dreams can come to fruition if they believed in it and put in the work. Because she is the true epitome of a Westside Wildcat, with this donation, we can help continue the legacy of empowering young Wildcats to be world changers.”

Apart from this act of generosity, GloRilla gave $25,000 to Martin Luther King College Prep, her former high school, last year for the senior class and the arts and music program.

Since the release of the Hitkidd-backed song “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” more than a year ago, GloRilla has undergone a lot of transformation, according to Revolt. She released her first EP, Anyhows, Life’s Great, with nine tracks with collaborations from Cardi B, Yo Gotti, and Niki Pooh.

Her Bonus Edition of the project, which featured four more cuts and collaborations with Lil Durk, Trina, and Gloss Up, sustained the momentum she had started months after it was first released.
