Jay-Z’s Roc Nation company has been producing the Super Bowl Halftime over the last five years after inking a deal with the NFL. It appears their relationship remains strong and the NFL is pleased with Roc Nation’s work as Bloomberg reported that the two parties have reached an agreement for Jay-Z’s company to continue producing the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
“It’s been a mutually positive relationship,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said on Tuesday at the NFL owners meeting in Atlanta about Roc Nation and the company’s chief executive officer, Desiree Perez.
“I’m not sure either one of us really spend much time talking about contracts,” Goodell added. “Jay is happy. Desiree Perez is happy. I’m happy, so we’re all good.”
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, the Super Bowl Halftime Show is arguably one of the most anticipated events in the world of sports. Over the years, A-list artists have been hired to perform during the halftime.
Roc Nation has collaborated with the NFL for five years as their Live Music Entertainment Strategist, with that deal being reportedly worth $25 million. In 2020, Shakira performed at the halftime show while The Weeknd hit the stage the following year. 2022 saw Dr. Dre and friends performing before Rihanna and Usher graced the stage in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar has been billed to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans next year. But that announcement was received with mixed emotions as some fans wondered why New Orleans native Lil Wayne was snubbed. The 42-year-old rapper later reacted to the snub with disappointment, saying that it “hurt a lot.”
Besides the Super Bowl deal, Roc Nation additionally plays a role in the NFL’s Inspire Change social justice program, XXL reported. The program has released grants amounting to $375 million.
