Kenyan doctors in shock after finding needles in 3-year-old child's body --- Nairobi News

Police in Kenya is investigating a bizarre case in which seven sewing needles were found in the body of a three-year-old child from Kangilikwagan village in Kapenguria.

Doctors discovered the metals in the child’s body at Kapenguria County Referral Hospital in West Pokot following an X-Ray scan conducted on Wednesday, local media Nairobi News reports.

Five needles were found in her belly and two others in tissues around her back.

The child has been under the care of her grandparents after her mother allegedly abandoned her due to the frequent illness of the child and married another man.

According to the grandparents, the child has for the past one year been complaining of stomach aches.

They often gave her some painkillers to minimize the pain but they were forced to bring her to the Kapenguria County Referral Hospital after the situation got worse.

After doctors found the needles inside the body of the child, they transferred her to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for surgery to remove the foreign objects.

Doctors have for now ruled out ingestion, saying that the needles may have been inserted in the child’s body.

The child’s grandmother, Emily Ling’aa who was shocked to find the foreign objects said they did not know where they came from.

They are now seeking help to treat the child while the police conduct further investigations.
