African socialites who are making huge dollars by just showing up at events

Bonang Matheba

The South African television personality, businesswoman and former DJ with over a million followers on Instagram got her first break into television on SABC 2’s kids’ game series, Manhattan’s Fantasy Challenge when she was 15. After joining SABC1 music show Live as the host, she became a sensation overnight and was highly sought after by industry watchers.

Matheba has since hosted several other music and television awards shows like the Channel O Music Awards, The South African Film and Television Awards, the South African Music Awards and other beauty pageants including Miss South Africa. In 2012, she joined the popular lifestyle and travel series ‘Top Billing’ and in 2013, was named as the new host of international franchise ‘Clash of the Choirs.’

She was subsequently named as spokesperson and face for company brands such as Woolworths (South Africa), Revlon, Ciroc Vodka in Africa Ipanema sandals. The 31-year-old who appeared in the hit drama series, InterSEXions, and has several awards to her credit, bought her first house at the age of 22 and purchased another one at 29.
