Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings

Under both civilian and military governments between 1981 and 2000, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, the wife of Jerry John Rawlings, was the first lady of Ghana.

The 30-year proximity to power was enough experience and period to establish contacts for Mrs. Rawlings.

When she fell out with the party her husband founded, the National Democratic Congress, Mrs. Rawlings founded the National Democratic Party and even attempted a run for the presidency.
