LeBron James and Stephen Curry played a very key role in helping the United States men’s national basketball team triumph over France to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

That was Team USA’s fifth straight gold medal and James’ third gold medal at the Olympics. James, 40, additionally scooped the MVP honor as Curry, 37, also won his first Olympic gold medal, CBS Sports reported.

James and Curry suiting up for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics also marked the first time the pair played as teammates besides doing same in an All-Star game. The NBA superstars touched on that topic during an appearance on James’ Mind the Game podcast with Steve Nash, with James emphatically stating that he was not going to compete at the Olympics.

“You already know my answer, I’ll be watching it,” the Los Angeles Lakers star said, with Curry, on the other hand, being coy with his comments.

“God willing, I still have the choice and physical option where I could impact the team,” the Golden State Warriors star said.

By the time the 2028 Summer Olympics starts in July, Curry would be 40, while James should have clocked the age of 42. And though James has counted himself out while Curry is coy, Team USA shouldn’t really have any issues competing without the future Hall of Famers, as they have outstanding basketball stars who can fill their shoes.

Besides that, NBA superstars including Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker, Joel Embiid, and Anthony Davis, should be available.
