Chris Kirubi (Kenyan)

This 75-year-old Kenyan businessman was born into a poor family and lost both parents at a very tender age. He says he had to work during school holidays to earn money for his upkeep and to take care of his siblings. After graduation, Chris sold and repaired gas cylinders for Shell Petroleum, all for pennies that wouldn’t even buy someone dinner. Since then, he has grown into a business tycoon, owning various multimillion dollar investments such as Capital FM, Harco Tiger Industries LTD and Centum, among others. He is also the owner of Two Rivers Mall, one of the largest malls in Africa. His net worth is estimated to be $1 billion.
