With the world at a standstill because of COVID-19, musicians are giving us messages of hope while raising funds towards relief efforts.
While stuck indoors due to the pandemic, Beyoncé surprised fans Thursday when she made a virtual appearance on ABC’s “Disney Family Singalong” to perform a touching rendition of “When You Wish Upon a Star” from the 1940 animated classic “Pinocchio.”
Before her performance, she paid tribute to healthcare workers on the front line.
“To all the families across the world, I’m very proud and honored to be a part of the Disney family and to help present the Disney Songbook Singalong in partnership with Feeding America,” the superstar said during the virtual concert that had other musicians singing Disney tunes to their audience right from home.
“I’d like to dedicate this song to all of the healthcare workers who’ve been working tirelessly to keep us healthy and safe. We greatly appreciate you.”
The show had the likes of Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Josh Groban, among others giving fans amazing performances from their living rooms.
Organizers left Beyonce off the roster while advertising for the show; her appearance, therefore, shocked her fans.
Signing off, the 38-year-old music icon, who starred in the live-action remake of Disney’s “The Lion King,” asked viewers to “Please hold on to your families tight, please be safe, don’t give up hope. We’re going to get through this, I promise. God bless you.”
