African music is having a heyday. Although the continent has been prominent on the world stage with international acts such as Fela Kuti, ET Mensah, Hugh Masekela, among others, the reach and prominence of the young African artists today is unparalleled.

As a collective, African musicians are bringing music, most notably Afrobeats, to international festivals,  scoring big deals with major brands, and crossing over to collaborate with non-African artists. The country leading the way: Nigeria.

With killer business instincts and innovative marketing ploys, Nigerians have set themselves up as the sharks of the African music industry. They seem to have tapped into the reservoir of entertainment success.
