"Imfura" by Rwandan filmmaker Samuel Ishimwe

2018 is set to be a certainly good year for African and African linked movies. Two African linked movies, “Watu Wote”, which is Kenyan-German co-produced as well as “Revolting Rhymes”, an animated movie produced by Cape Town-based Triggerfish Animation have been nominated for the 2018 Oscars.

Rwandan filmmaker Samuel Ishimwe also made history at the 68th annual Berlin International Film Festival when his short film, “Imfura” won the Silver Bear Jury Prize in the short film category, making it the first Rwandan film to win the coveted award. This was also the first year a Rwandan movie competed at the festival. 8 more African linked movies also received awards at the Festival.

To celebrate this significant milestone, Face2Face Africa spotlights some African short films worth a watch. Take a look at some of them out if you can. Let’s support local content!
