Francis Brown

The Ghanaian animator is the CEO of AnimaxFYB Studios, an Accra-based animation studio that is aiming to be the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information in authentic African stories.

Despite challenges of funding and proper structures when he began, Brown’s works have since received recognition the world over, winning several international awards and nominations.

After his first animation (The Beggar) in 2010, the Ghanaian illustrator’s story has been amazing. His 11:08 minutes short animation film titled “Agorkoli” was adjudged “Best Animation Film” at the 2016 Africa International Film Festival’s Globe Award. The animation film detailed the migration of the Ewe tribe away from a tyrant king in Ghana. Since then, AnimaxFYB Studios have tackled other social and political issues and made a great impact in telling the African story through animation.
